About us

It’s difficult to pigeon hole HonkyTonk into one category.  We sell wine but we’re not a bar, we sell food but we’re not a restaurant.   HonkyTonk Wine Library is a hybrid Wine Deli, Wine Lounge situated on the historic Sutton Harbour, formerly know as Sutton Pool in Plymouth Devon. Founded in 2018 by couple Zoe Brodie and Fitz Spencer and very much a family run business.  Our ethos is simple… Wine Makes Conversation. Casually combining the love of fine wine and sharing food, the craving of conversation  We are a haven away from the hustle and bustle with tranquil harbour views.

HonkyTonk has many strings to the operation from our 80-seater dine or drink venue split over two areas; outside under canape area and our wonderful comfortable indoor lounge and dining area. We have established regular events, wine tastings, comedy club, Sunday Jazz & Roast and more!

HonkyTonk is the ideal place to for private hire whether that be personal or for business.  Our ethos is always directed towards wines and making wine more approachable to our customers to enjoy wine with no airs and graces but to appreciate good wine and a story behind the label.  This will no doubt take us around the world, with different producers giving a different feel and perspective to the wine industry.

We have over 250 wines in stock and 30 by the glass, along with a growing rum collection. We pride ourselves on service with the key element of sharing which relates to our deli food & drinks list.

HonkyTonk has an online presence that caters for national sales from our website.  Fitz comes from a long hospitality background before spending 20 years within the wine trade and a passion for sourcing great wines. Zoe, who gave the business its cool name is also the orchestra of making HonkyTonk tick.  HonkyTonk is about a value of sharing, your time, your wine, you and good food with others, whether you are visiting us or an online customer.

Donovan

Head-Chef & Manager

My name is Donovan but people here at Honky call me "Donny". I have had a passion for everything food for as long as I can remember and wanted to become nothing else but a chef.

I have worked as a professional chef for the last 11 years from Michelin star all the way to hotels and bistros. I pride myself on my high energy personality and you can usually hear my singing from the minute you walk in. My passion has always been with food but in my spare time I love to run, kite and explore the beautiful outdoors.

I come from a beautiful seaside town in Poland, which is as charming as Plymouth.

My passion for being a host and innate national hospitality have pushed my career towards gastronomy. For over 10 years I have been keen to provide my guests with the highest possible service. I have worked in various restaurants from a fish & chips in Germany, fine dining cocktail bar in Poland to rock restaurant for bikers in Dubai.

Amelia

Front of House

Hello my name is Amelia and I’m on the front of house staff at Honkytonk. I graduated from Exeter Uni a couple of years ago with a degree in English and Drama, and since then I have spent some time both working here in Plymouth and travelling overseas. I love waitressing as it allows me to meet new people every day, form friendships with regular customers and my colleagues, and there is always at least 10 reasons to laugh every shift. In the future I would like to combine my love for travel with my love for the hospitality industry and run my own establishment - preferably in a nice hot country next to a beach!
