We currently have an exciting opportunity for an ambitious chef to work alongside the head chef Donovan Spencer.  Honkytonk Wine Library has fast become one of Plymouth’s destination hospitality places to visit. Standards are high to help maintain our reputation for good food and service.  Our driving force is creating exceptional customer experience and as a chef, you will play a vital role in delivering this commitment. You will be responsible for standard kitchen duties expected of an experienced chef.

 

Job Description Chef

  • Flexible route
  • Working to high standards
  • Adhere and implement H&S and F&H standards
  • Food preparation.
  • Stock taking and stock rotation
  • Menu planning with the head chef
  • Minimum 2 years experience

Front of House

We are also seeking front-of-house waiting staff to work on our busy weekends (some experience) and would suit those seeking to top up their current income, all candidates must be willing to work evenings.

Front-of-house staff will be expected to have some knowledge of the catering trade, but the most important is the willingness to give excellent customer experience

Who we are?

Let us introduce ourselves: Honkytonk was founded by the dynamic husband and wife duo Fitz & Zoe Spencer, with the kitchen under the expert leadership of Don Spencer. Our culinary identity revolves around wine, hence the name and our menu features a delightful fusion of New Orleans Creole dishes and our renowned signature sharing boards (you can find our full menu online).

Honkytonk Wine Library opened its doors in September 2018 and has enjoyed growth month, after month. The co-owners Fitz & Zoe Spencer, are from a completely different background.   Fitz spent many years as a chef himself along many years in the wine trade a passion for both food and great wine, along with other businesses interests

Zoe holds the key to both design and the business’s operational day-to-day running. A background in clerical office management organisation.

Donovan Spencer has had vast experience as a chef and worked in some of the Southwest Key hotels and restaurants. Bags of energy and a key eye for detail.
Honkytonk’s clientele ranges from age 30 plus, mainly women lead, followed by couples, along with a good local business following.

Our food is all about sharing, which is reflected in our menu.  It is important you understand we are not like mainstream restaurants. Donavan has developed amazing sharing boards that have become extremely popular with our growing clientele.

We are very much about putting our customers and staff first as our ethos is very much about creating a warm welcoming environment.  We understand catering is a hard trade to work in, so our aim is to maintain a happy family vibe where laughter is key but most of all respect for your co-workers and helping us all to gel, which is more important than your experience. A happy team, creates a happy environment to work in.
